April 10, 1941 – June 30, 2024
GARRETT — John Craig Hutton, age 83, of Garrett, Indiana, passed on June 30, 2024 at Parkview-Randallia Hospital.
John was born April 10, 1941, in LaPorte, Indiana, to John V. and Della M. (Barnes) Hutton, and he had one brother, Dan, and they precede him in death.
John married his high school sweetheart, LuAnn Myers on Oct. 29, 1960, in Warren, Indiana, and she resides in Garrett.
John started his career as football coach and art teacher, followed by serving as assistant principal and athletic administrator for 39 years with GKB Schools, retiring in 2001. John coached two perfect seasons (1969 and 1970) at Garrett High School and was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
Everything John did, he did with excellence — from his paintings, to the school grounds and his athletic fields, especially his pride and joy, his football field. He loved his family, caring for his yard and flowers, and Indiana University sports.
