Obituary

Jon M. See, 70, of Garrett, IN passed away on February 20, 2012 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN, surrounded by his family. He was born December 14, 1941 in Auburn, IN to the late Orval E. and Doris (Barnhart) See. He married Elizabeth Ann Conkle on July 7, 1962 and she survives in Garrett. Also surviving are two sons, Michael and Elaine See of Toledo, OH and Dr. Eric and Sarah See of Fayetteville, NC; a daughter, Christina and Brent Meyer of Machesney Park, IL; four grandsons, Jordan See of Cincinnati, OH, Lucas and Zachery Meyer of Machesney Park, IL and Cameron See of Fayetteville, NC and two granddaughters, Emily See of Toledo, OH and Lauren See of Fayetteville, NC. Jon graduated from McIntosh High School 1959 in Auburn. In 1963, he received a double B.S. degree in education and accounting from the University of Findlay in Findlay, OH. In 1974, he received an MBA specializing in hospital administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He began his career as an assistant controller at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay and rose to the rank of Executive Vice President. In 1980, he accepted the position of President and CEO of Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert, OH. In 1992, he accepted the position as administrator at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY. He retired from that position in 1996, concluding a 32 year career in the health care field. Upon his retirement, he returned to Indiana, living in Garrett until his death. He enjoyed spending times with his family, cooking, supporting the ACD museum in Auburn and had a life long love of animals. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN 46738. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Indian Village Church of God, 602 Erie Pass, Auburn, IN 46706, with calling after 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Memorials maybe directed to the Indian Village Church of God Food Bank or the DeKalb County Humane Society.
