Joseph D. Halterman Jr. age 64 of Garrett, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 at VA Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Joseph was born October 4, 1946 in Louisville, KY to Joseph and Phyllis (Mahoney) Halterman Sr. He married Sally Ann Maloney on November 22, 1975 in Garrett. Joseph was a veteran of the US Army and a POW during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn, the Garrett American Legion and VFW, Northeast Indiana Vietnam Veterans and IPFW Alumni Association Joseph is survived by his wife: Sally A. Halterman of Garrett; his mother, Phyllis Halterman of Indianapolis; 2 daughters, Judith & Kent Parrott of Fort Wayne and Jennifer Halterman of Garrett; 2 sisters, Joann Meyers of Indianapolis and Cletia and John Bowron of Jacksonville, FL and 3 grandchildren. A private family mass will be held at a later date. Memorials are to the family or to the donor's choice.
