Josephine Runion, 101, formerly of Garrett passed away January 6, 2012, in Yorktown, Indiana, following a short illness. She was born March 20, 1910, near Auburn to Homer and Catherine Boren. Josephine was a nurse for many years at the Garrett Sacred Heart Hospital, Auburn Sanders Hospital, and DeKalb Memorial Hospital where she retired as supervisor of the surgery department in 1970. Josephine was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garrett, Daughters of Isabella, and DeKalb County Nurses Association. While living in Yorktown since 1998, she attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muncie and was a member of the Legion of Mary. Josephine will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and as a cherished friend to many. Josephine was married to Isiah L. Runion and he preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by one daughter Suzanna Ober (husband David) of Yorktown and three grandchildren - Michael Ober (wife Stecy) of Avon, Pamela Schacht (husband Aaron) of Zionsville, and Kevin Ober (wife Kim) of Fishers; she is also survived by eight great grandchildren - Olivia, Drew, and Noah Ober, Lucas, Jonathan, and Cathryn Schacht, and Caroline and Meredith Ober. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Cletus Boren of Auburn. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, Indiana, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will then be conducted at 12:00 noon at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett with Father Andrew Nazareth officiating. Following the Mass, a private service of internment will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garrett, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2300 W Jackson Street, Muncie, IN, 47303, or the American Heritage Partners, Washington House Activities Fund, 1500 Patriot Drive, Yorktown, IN 47396.
