Katheryn J. Sager, 85, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She was born on November 8, 1925 to Eddie and Ruth Zelt, and they preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Libbey High School in Toledo, OH and completed her training as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo. She married Richard J. Sager on January 10, 1948 and he survives in Auburn. Until her recent illness, she was a homemaker and an active volunteer at R.S.V.P. in Auburn. She is also survived by four sons and daughters in-law; Richard (Patricia) Sager of Carleton, MI, Mike (Sandee) Sager of Auburn, Jack Sager of Huntertown and Steve (Angie) Sager of Milford, OH; five grandchildren; a sister and brother in-law; Connie (Karl) Kazmaier of Port Clinton, OH and a brother and sister in-law; George (Judy) Surerus of Toledo. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Nelson Surerus; a sister, Joanne Zelt and a brother, Donald Surerus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56 Garrett, with burial to follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett. The Rev. Bill Haworth of the Garrett Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are to the R.S.V.P in Auburn, Garrett Presbyterian Church or the Heimach Center in Auburn.
