Kenneth D. Heitz, 62, of Garrett, IN died at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Kenneth was born December 25, 1945 in Garrett, IN to J. Emory and Eunice M. (Flory) Heitz. He worked in maintenance for the Garrett-Keyser-Butler School system for 35 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren in Garrett, IN. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home, with calling 1 hour prior. Pastor Brad Hardesty will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Garrett. There will also be visitation on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren. Survivors include: Mother - Eunice M. Heitz of Garrett, IN Son - Kenneth D. Heitz Jr. of Auburn, IN Daughters - Sharon and Kimberly Heitz of Auburn, IN Brother - John P. and Sandy Heitz of Kendallville, IN Sister - Sharon Heitz of New Haven, IN Kenneth was preceded in death by his father.
