Kenneth W. Smeltzer age 90 of Garrett, I died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center - Ft. Wayne, IN. Kenneth was born September 7, 1925 in Rock Creek Twp. - Wells County, IN to Earl L. and Lucile H. (Sonner) Smeltzer and they preceded him in death. He married Barbara Ann Bowman on July 21, 1951 in Huntington, IN and she died on March 15, 2002. Kenneth worked at American Hoist, International Harvester and after returning from the military worked at Essex Wire as a machine operator for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He was a WW II Army veteran. Kenneth is survived by 2 sons: Jeff (Susanne Totten) Smeltzer, Garrett, IN; Steve Smeltzer, Springfield, MO.; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl L. and Lucile H. Smeltzer; wife: Barbara Ann Smeltzer, Daughter: Kathy Walker and 3 brothers: twin brother - Keith Smeltzer, Darwin Smeltzer and Edwin Smeltzer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home - 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at Embrey Cemetery - rural Garrett, IN with Rev.
