Larry E. Custer, 65 of Garrett, IN; died on Monday, September 21, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born March 6, 1944 in Auburn, IN to Gregory and Maxine (Thompson) Custer. Larry was a Forklift Operator at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, IN for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He married Deborah L. Nelson on October 11, 1995 in Auburn, IN. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Garrett American Legion, VFW and Garrett Eagles. Larry is survived by his wife, Deborah L. Custer of Garrett; his mother, Maxine Custer of Garrett; his 3 sons, Larry Stuckey of Fort Wayne, IN, Anthony Custer of Fort Wayne and LeRoy Custer of Las Vegas, NV; 3 stepchildren, Angie, Keith and Mark Cowell all of Angola, IN; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Dan Custer of FL and a sister, Connie Custer of Garrett. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Greg Custer and sisters, Sharon and Bonnie Custer. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. H.Dean Morris of the Living Waters Community Church officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to Gideon Bibles or to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
