Lois W. Vachon age 84 of Garrett, IN and Crooked Lake, Angola, IN died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor- Garrett, IN. She spent most of her life living and working in Fort Wayne. She was born August 31, 1926 in Akron, OH to Thomas Daniel and Ethel Mae (Davidson) Weaver and they preceded her in death. She received her BS from Indiana University and her RN from Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago, IL. She married Robert J. Vachon Jr. on September 61949 in Angola, IN and he survives in Garrett, IN. She worked 17 years at Lutheran Hospital as the house charge nurse and 15 years at FWCS as a school nurse. She is a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Angola, IN and the AAUW (American Assoc. of University Women) and the ESOL (English as a Second Language). She was a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross in both Fort Wayne, IN and Sebring, FL and at Matthew:25, Fort Wayne, IN. She enjoyed baking and making quilts for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband: Robert J. Vachon Jr., Garrett, IN; daughter: Denise (Vachon) (Harry) Kaufman, Atlanta, GA; and 3 sons: Douglas (Dwana) Vachon, Atlanta, GA; Matthew (Brenda) Vachon, Tipton, IN and Kirk (MaryAnn) Vachon, Garrett, IN. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a brother: Don T. (Mary) Weaver, Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home with services beginning at 5 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Deborah Davis and burial will take place at a later date in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, IN. Memorials are to the American Red Cross - Fort Wayne Chapter or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
