Lois E. Yarde, age 90, of Avilla, IN died on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn, IN. She was born April 11, 1918 in Garrett, IN to Harry and Bertha (Olinger) Deihl. She married Arthur L. Yarde on July 15, 1937 in Harlan, IN and he died on August 29, 1996. Lois was a homemaker and also the bookkeeper for Arthur and Sons Inc. retiring in 1988. She attended Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren in Auburn, IN. She is survived by two sons - Harry Lee and Peg Yarde of Fort Wayne, IN and Roy A. and Nancy Yarde of Avilla, IN. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter - Sally Anderson, grandson - Todd Yarde, 3 Brothers and 4 Sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, IN. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Stauffer and Chaplin Paul Marki officiating. Burial will follow in Chirstian Union Cemetery in Garrett, IN. Memorials are to Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren or DeKalb County Home Health and Hospice.
