Kathryn (Newbauer) Schaab Rex age 94 of Fort Wayne, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Ashton Creek Nursing Home - Fort Wayne, IN. Kathryn was born January 31, 1922 in Garrett, IN to Joseph T. and Carrie (Schulthess) Newbauer. She married Robert F. Rex on August 10, 1957 in Garrett, IN and he died June 20, 2004. She was a homemaker and was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN. She was a member of the Rosary Society and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Kathryn is survived by her 2 daughters: Cynthia (Dennis) Mandick, Tucson, AZ and Lisa (Jeff) Davis, Fort Wayne, IN.; her grandchildren: David (Ann) Mandick, WI; Dan (Annessa) Mandick, TX; Tangie (Sean) Harrel, Corunna, IN; Kylie (Shaun) Kemery, Fort Wayne, IN; Ashlie (Kristian) Brown, Fort Wayne, IN; and Jessica Davis, Fort Wayne, IN. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Emma, Grace and Abbey Mandick, WI; Carson, Morgan and Chloe Harrel, Corunna, IN; Cailee, Zayden, and Brekken Kemery, Fort Wayne, IN; Channing and Stella Brown, Fort Wayne, IN; Jacob and Micah Dooley, TX; and great great grandson: Lukas Mitchell, TX Kathryn was preceded in death by her 1st husband: Don Schaab; 2nd husband: Robert F. Rex; parents: Joseph T. and Carrie Newbauer; 2 brothers: Malvin Showers and Joseph Newbauer and sister: Thelma Matyjasik. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN 46738 A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN with Fr.
