Mabel K. Kearns age 100 of Columbia City and formerly of Garrett, IN died Monday, July 10, 2017 at Miller's at Oak Pointe – Columbia City, IN. Mabel was born April 3, 1917 in Oakfield, Maine to Harold and Annie (Nelson) Batchelder. She married Robert A. Kearns on December 13, 1950 in Coldwater, MI and he died January 11, 1995. She worked in assembly at Garrett Flexibles for 9 years.

Mabel was a member of the Columbia City Church of Christ.

Mabel is survived by her daughter and son in-law: Lynn (Joe) Hummel, Columbia City, IN; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandson.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Annie Batchelder; daughter: Rita Frost; 5 brothers: Clinton, Ernest, Kenneth, Basil and Arthur Batchelder; 1 sister: Adel Newman.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Hierholzer officiating.

Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN.

Memorials are to Thomas Funeral Home. 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN to assist with expenses.
