Marilyn J. Yarde, age 75 of Kendallville, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born August 25, 1938 in Garrett to Glen and Ethel M. (Starner) Shirk and they preceded her in death. She married Richard D. Yarde on August 12, 1967 and he survives in Kendallville. She had worked at Zanyx in Avilla for 10 years. She attended New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garrett, IN serving on the Ladies Aid and Meals on Wheels for many years.

Marilyn is also survived by her 2 daughters, Anna and Nathan Merriman of Albion, IN and Betty and James Lee of Ft. Wayne; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah and Jacob Merriman of Albion, Denitta Lee of Fort Bragg, NC, Alexis Rowlison of Fort Wayne and Rebecca and Andrew Lee of Fort Wayne; 4 brothers, Eugene Shirk of Auburn, Carson Shirk of Wolcottville, Don and Nancy Shirk of Phoenix, AZ and Joseph and Carolyn Shirk of Columbia City; 2 sisters, Patricia Bornick of Monticello, WI and Carol Miller of LaGrange, IN. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Steven Shirk and sisters, Katherine Camp and Barbara Huyette.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN and from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Garrett, IN. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Mix and Pastor Ralph Diehl officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett, IN
