Martha M. "Brownie" Hunter age 85 of Garrett, IN died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007 at her home. She was born on July 19, 1922 in Auburn, IN to John C. and Edna M. (Fry) Brown. She graduated from Auburn H.S. in 1940. She married John J. "Joe" Hunter on June 8, 1944 in Mishawaka, IN and he died April 8, 1986. She was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church, and the Eagles, Elks, and the American Legion Auxillary all of Garrett, IN. She was a homemaker and had worked at Stern's Clothing and at the Sacred Heart Hospital in the 1960's and 70's. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Thomas Funeral Home. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery. Memorials to the Garrett United Methodist Chrch Pre-school/Elementary education programs.
