Martha C. "Marty" Gentis age 90 of Avilla, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Presence Sacred Heart Home - Avilla, IN. Martha was born October 24, 1925 in Huntington, IN to George and Isabella (Karst) Yaste and they preceded her in death. She married Richard K. Gentis on November 14, 1946 in Huntington, IN and he died July 15, 1974. She was a homemaker and had worked as a teller for 11 years at the Garrett State Bank. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN. Marty is survived by her 2 daughters: Karen Failor and Mary Ellen Gentis, both of Fort Wayne, IN and 2 sons: Michael (Marilyn) Gentis, Kendallville, IN and Patrick (Dianne) Gentis, Auburn, IN. A sister: Ruth Wasmuth, Huntington, IN.; 18 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Marty was preceded in death by her husband: Richard K. Gentis, parents: George and Isabella Yaste; son in-law: Michael Failor; Grandson: Derek Gentis; brother: Charles Yaste and 3 sisters: Jane Spotts, Dorothy Shafer, and Mary A. Clabaugh. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. A rosary will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Thomas Funeral Home A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN. with Fr.
