Marvin V. Basse, 73 of Auburn, IN died on Friday, January 1, 2010 at his residence. He was born July 26, 1936 in Auburn to Oscar and Violet (Pletcher) Basse. He was a US Airforce veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Jocelyn D. Edelman on June 3, 1961 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Elkhart, IN. Marvin was a Bank Executive at Summit Bank in Fort Wayne, IN for 25 years before his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana University Alumni and Bankers Administration. Marvin is survived by his wife, Jocelyn D. Basse of Auburn; his son and daughter in-law, John W. and Patty Basse of Gwinn, MI; his daughter, Cynthia L. O'Neill of Staten Island, NY; grandson, John C. and Heather Basse of Gwinn, MI and his great grandchildren, Marvin and Hailey Basse of Gwinn, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ferman Basse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, with Monsignor John Kuzmic officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett, with military graveside honors by the US Air Force, Garrett American Legion and V.F.W. Calling will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett and 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to the St. Vincent Music Program.
