Maynard Wayne Griffin age 90 of Auburn, IN died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Parkview DeKalb – Auburn, IN. Maynard was born April 10, 1934 in Auburn, In to Warren and Elizabeth (Lung) Griffin. He married Shirley Koepke on September 11, 1954 in Garrett, IN.
A native of DeKalb County, Mr. Griffin attended the county schools, graduating from Garrett High School in 1952. An electrical engineering technician by occupation, he lived within two miles of Garett most of his life.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corps.
Mr. Griffin retired from Electric Motors and Specialties in Garrett, IN in 1999. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church – Garrett, IN., where he served on the Stewardship Committee and was a former Church Treasurer and Elder. His main pastimes were fishing and bowling.
Maynard is survived by his wife: Shirley Griffin, Auburn, IN; son and daughter in-law: Steven and Wanda Griffin, Anderson, SC; grandson: Eric (Kimberly) Leon, and their children: Aubrey, Ian ad Avery leon; Beaufort, NC; extended family members: Ronald and Lydia (Kimberly) Leon, Garrett, IN and their children: Aubrey, Ian and Avery Leon; Step grandchildren: Chasity and Ronald Isley; Meagan Ayala and Brandon Shiflett, Pensacola, FL; David Shiflett Jr., Pensacola, FL; Nathan Shiflett, Anderson, SC; Ginger Shiflett, Anderson, SC; 7 step-great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother: Richard and Shirley Griffin, Garrett, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Warren and Elizabeth Griffin; daughter: Valerie Leon; brother: Thomas Griffin; and a step-granddaughter: April Graves.
Services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett, IN at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with Rev. Keaton Christiansen officiating.
Visitation will take place from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery – Auburn, IN.
Memorials are to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett.
