Melvin M. "Jake" Maggert age 68 of Garrett died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett. He was born February 27, 1941 in Garrett,Indiana to Forrest and Francis (Reed) Maggert. He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam. Survivors include: Daughter - Tara Maggert, Indianapolis, IN Son - Ty and Robin Maggert, Garrett, IN Granddaughter - Macy Maggert, Garrett 5 Brothers - Richard "Sam", Clayton, William "Bill", Ralph and Clifford "Hoggy" Maggert all of Garrett. 5 Sisters - Mary Higgins, Juanita Kline, Caroline Creager, and Eleanor "Doodie" Perucca all of Garrett and Wava Woolard, Alaska Member of the Garrett Eagles, American Legion and Alumni Association. A calling of friends and family will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Thomas Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009 at Thomas Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett with Military Graveside honors by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are to the Colon Cancer Alliance
