Michael Warren "Mick" Steward of Garrett, Indiana September 23, 1942 - January 7, 2016 Michael Warren "Mick" Steward age 73 and formerly of Garrett, IN died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Solutions – Fort Wayne. Mick was born September 23, 1942 in Melrose Park, IL to Walter and Mary Kay (Vogeding) Steward and they preceded him in death. He married Coleen Kaye DePew on October 22, 1968 and she died April 12, 2014. Mick was a U.S. Navy veteran and work as a warehouse utility person at B.F. Goodrich for 31 years, retiring in 1999 Mick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN Mick is survived by his son: Todd (Lisa Utermark) Steward, Kendallville, IN; son in-law: Craig Brennan, Avilla, IN; 3 brothers: Stephen A. (Dee) Steward, Grabill, IN; David "Buzz" (Coetta Baker) Steward, Kendallville, IN; Gregory (Barbara) Steward, Littleton, CO. and a sister: Rebecca "Becky" (Skip) Claxton, Garrett, IN. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters: Audrey (Justin) Barry; Cooper Steward; grandson: Alex Brennan and a great granddaughter: Kaytlin Barry and great grandson: Gavin Barry. Mick was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Mary Kay Steward; wife: Coleen Kaye Steward and a daughter: Christina M. Steward. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN, officiating will be Fr. Andrew Nazareth. Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56 Garrett, IN Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy and the Garrett American Legion Post #178.
