Neil J. Petcoff, 80 of Garrett, IN died on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 12:20 p.m. at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, IN. He was born November 17, 1929 in Toledo, OH to George and Jeanette (Carman) Petcoff. Neil served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military enlistment he worked on the C&O Railroad for 16 years. He then became involved in sales for 20 years and then became self employed building log homes until his retirement. He married Jackie S. Johnson on November 23, 1985 in Fort Wayne, IN. Neil had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain people. He especially loved children. He was a member of the Garrett American Legion, VFW, Eagles and Elks. He is survived by his wife, Jackie S. Petcoff of Garrett; his daughter, Terese Petcoff of Garrett; his son and daughter in-law, Robert and Deanna Petcoff of Auburn and his daughter and son in-law, Denise and Gary Noel of Toledo, OH. He also has 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Geroge Petcoff and a sister- Jeanette Matthews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 2-6 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A military geaveside service will take place on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Willows Cemetery in Oregon, OH. Memorials are to Angel Corps or a College education fund for Terese Petcoff in care of Jackie Petcoff.
