Nina M. Wilmot age 87 of Garrett, IN died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010. She was born March 31, 1923 in Garrett, IN to Ralph R. and Mary S. (Jones) Childers and they preceded her in death. She married Durward R. Wilmot on July 27, 1947 in Garrett and he died August 29, 1990. Nina was the secretary at the First Church of Christ in Garrett for over 50 years of her life. She was a member of the First Church of Christ and was active with the Garrett Heritage Festival. She is survived by a son and daughter in-law - Steven and Becki Wilmot, Edgerton, OH and a daughter and son in-law - Karen and Gary Rice, Garrett, IN. She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Amanda and Trevor Weaver, Edgerton, OH; Ashling and Brian Willard, Smithsburg, MD; Benjamin Wilmot, Angola, IN; Michelle Rice, Garrett, IN; Josiah and Samantha Wilmot, Edgerton, OH and Jamie and Chad Vonalt, Bryan, OH. and 6 great grandchildren. A brother - Merle Childers survives in Tempe, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Durward R. Wilmot and 3 brothers - George, Roy and Bob Childers. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the First Church of Christ - Garrett, IN. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the First Church of Christ with Pastor Steven Wilmot and Brother Bud Owen of the First Church of Christ officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery - Auburn, IN. Memorials are to the First Church of Christ - Garrett, IN.
