Paul D. Bonnett Sr. age 83 of Ossian, IN and formerly Garrett, IN died at 5:05 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Ossian Health and Rehab. Center. Paul was born December 13, 1926 in Garrett, IN to Carl E. and Beryl E. (Davis) Bonnett and they preceded him in death. He married Iona I. (Arnold) VanOsdale on November 5, 1966 in Fort Wayne, IN and she survives in Ossian, IN. Paul was an enameller at Rea Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne, IN for 31 years, retiring in 1988. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the United Faith Presbyterian Church - Fort Wayne, IN and the Garrett American Legion Post #178 and the Rea Magnet Wire 25 year club. Paul is survived by his wife: Iona I. Bonnett, Ossian, IN; son: Paul D. Bonnett Jr., Fort Wayne, IN; daughter: Lana "Susie" Myers, Portland, OR; step-daughter: Joan M. Hey, Ossian, IN; step sons: Bernie A. VanOsdale, River Falls, WI and Doug W. VanOsdale, Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and sister: Judith Becker, Fort Wayne, IN. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Mary Jean Custer and Shirley Ann Bonnett. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN. with Pastor Hal Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett, IN.
