Phyllis J. Custer-Cole, 80, of Garrett, IN died at 11:08 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital. Phyllis was born on June 25, 1927 in Auburn, IN to Walter W. and Lela (Houghton) Foltz, they preceded her in death. She married Junior W. Custer on February 7, 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN and he died on August 24, 1987. She later married Franklin Cole on August 22, 1992 in Garrett, IN and he died on October 17, 2006. She worked in packaging at Stanadyne in Garrett for 12 years before retiring on July 1, 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garrett, IN, Garrett Eagles Auxiliary and the Garrett American Legion Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed playing cards at the Heimach Center in Auburn, IN. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 from 2-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Garrett, IN, with calling begining at 9 a.m. Pastor David Mix will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Garrett, IN. Memorials are to the St. Martin's Community Kitchen.
