Phyllis J. (Hampshire) Kinder August 10, 1924 - April 27, 2013 Phyllis J. (Hampshire) Kinder age 88 of Garrett, IN died at 11:52 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. She was born August 10, 1924 in Altona, IN to Philmer and Blanche V. (Hose) Anderson and they preceded her in death. She married Gerald Hampshire on October 17, 1945 in Kendallville, IN and he died in 1962. Phyllis was a cab driver for the B & O Railroad for 18 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Garrett American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a 10 time club champion at the Garrett Country Club. Phyllis is survived by 2 sons: Randy (Pam) Hampshire, Garrett, IN and Patrick Lee (Cathy) Hampshire, Lake Worth, FL. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald Hampshire; daughter: Darlene Patton; a sister: Margueriette Liss and 4 brothers: Jack Anderson, Murland Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, and Philmer Anderson Jr. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home with Brother Bud Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery - Kendallville, IN. Memorials are to the DeKalb Heart Association
