Rachel E. Kobiela age 100 of Angola, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Lakeland Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Angola. She was born November 20, 1913 in Fort Wayne, IN to Bennoie and Josephine (Kintz) Rice and they preceded her in death. She married Adam S. Kobiela on August 26, 1936 in Auburn, IN and he died November 5, 1978. She was a 1933 graduate of Auburn High School and was an assistant manager at Haffner's Dime store in Garrett, IN for 15 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN; Rosary Society and Harvest House. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Helen (Carl "Rex") Fosnaugh, Angola, IN; 2 sons: John (Glenda Lou) Kobiela, Saint Paris, OH and Thomas Kobiela, Garrett, IN; 2 brothers: Bennie Rice, CA and Lester Rice, Ft. Wayne, IN; and 1 sister: Wilma Simpson, Ft. Wayne, IN. Rachel is survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Adam S. Kobiela; parents: Bennoie and Josephine Rice, son: Joseph Kobiela; 3 brothers: Sam Rice, Charles Rice and Louis Rice; and 3 sisters: Esther Swoverland, Hennrietta Aughimbaugh and Patricia Campbell. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Andrew Nazareth officiating.
