Richard Allen Heiman Sr. age 77 of Garrett, IN passed from this life on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Auburn Village Nursing Home – Auburn, IN. Richard was born September 26, 1948 in Kendallville, IN to Henry C. Heiman Sr. and Naomi (Teegardin) Heiman. Richard married Christie J. Ranney on March 28, 1970 in Auburn, IN and she died May 26, 2024. Richard worked as a traveling maintenance man for the CSX Railroad – retiring in 2004. He was active as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and the Explorer Post in Garrett.

Richard is survived by his son: Richard A. (Joyce Halsey) Heiman II, Garrett, IN; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers: David Heiman, Avilla, IN; Henry Heiman Jr., Avilla, IN.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Henry C. Heiman Sr. and Naomi Heiman; wife: Christie J. Heiman; daughter: Rochelle “Shelly” Daniel Heiman; brothers: Louis Heiman and Daniel Heiman.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Cedar Creek Cemetery – Auburn, IN at a later date.
