Richard J. Hollis, age 96 of Garrett, IN went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, June 12, 2026 at Miller’s Merry Manor – Garrett, IN. Richard was born March 3, 1930 in Garrett, IN to Germaine Gabriel and Cecelia C. (Schlosser) Hollis. He was a graduate of Indiana University – Bloomington, IN.

Richard was a Korean Army Veteran.

He married Esther C. Stevens on July 24, 1954 in Garrett, IN and she passed away on September 22, 2021.

Richard worked as the administrator of the Garrett Hospital and later worked a s a nursing home administrator at many different nursing homes – retiring in 1993.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN and the Garrett American Legion Post #178.

Richard is survived by his daughter: Beth (Bob) Novy, Garrett, IN; 2 grandchildren: Jessica (Derek) Marlin, Fishers, IN; Mitchell (Christina) Novy, Woodstock, GA; 3 great grandchildren: Keller, Rosie, and Aiden Novy.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Germaine and Cecelia Hollis; sister: Ileen L. Ellert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church- Garrett, IN with Fr. Brian Isenbarger officiating.

The family will receive family and friends from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Garrett, IN
