Richard L. Sechler age 90 of Garrett, IN passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving grandchildren. Richard was born October 28, 1934 in Edgerton, OH to Harold J. and Alberta E. (Morgan) Sechler.

Richard married Norma Jean Mowrey on June 14, 1958 in Garrett, IN and she passed away on December 20, 2017.

Richard worked in car sales for many dealerships, the last being Sanderson Auto Sales – Auburn, IN.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN and the Knights of Columbus

Richard is survived by his 5 grandchildren: Denver (Ashley) Miller, Waterloo, IN; Mac Surfus, Garrett, IN; Ashley (Jamey) Pauley, Avilla, IN; Abbi Surfus, Garrett, IN; Tanner Surfus, Garrett, IN;  6 great grandchildren; son – in-laws: Terry Miller, Auburn, IN and Paul Surfus, Garrett, IN; brothers: Ron Sechler, Edgerton, ON and Dave Sechler, Bryan, OH; sisters: Mary Vaughn, Edgerton, OH and JoAnn (Gary) Jennings, Morganton, NC

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN with Fr. Brian Isenbarger officiating.

There will be visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church

Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN
