Rick L. Bloom September 20, 1953 - May 21, 2014 Rick L. Bloom, age 60, of Garrett, formerly of Sylvan Lake died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. He was born in Garrett on September 20, 1953 to the late Robert "Bob" L. and Deloris "Dee" (Hippenhammer) Bloom. He worked for CSX Railroad for 40 years, retiring as a Conductor in September of 2013. Rick is survived by 2 sons, Kristopher (Jamie) Bloom of Columbia City and Patrick (Stephanie) Bloom of Muncie; 4 grandchildren, Carter, Chase, and Cortlyn Bloom of Columbia City and Grace Bloom of Muncie; a sister, Rebeca Ashcraft of Lake of the Woods and his companion, Trudie Aller of Kendallville. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Amanda Bloom. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 -3 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 County Road 56 Garrett, with Rev. Ken Weaver officiating.
