Robert "Bob" Distelrath, 69, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at his winter home in Arizona. Born in Detroit,Michigan, he lived in Huntertown, Indiana with his son Jeremy, Jeremy's fiancAC., Gina, their son Connor, and his dogs, Sparky and Sugar. He took pride in his work as a union electrician, working for Shambaugh & Sons, and was a proud member of IBEW Local 305 until he retired in 2004. He enjoyed playing softball, riding his Harley, collecting sports cars, spending time with his family, and offering his time, help, and expertise to anyone who needed it. Surviving are his son Jeremy Distelrath of Huntertown; siblings Joanne Young of Fort Wayne; Arlene Baker of Fort Wayne; Mary Ellen and Mick Shingleston of Fort Wayne; Dan Distelrath of New Haven; Diane Parker of West Virginia, and Chuck Distelrath of Auburn. Also surviving is his one-year-old grandson, Connor Distelrath of Huntertown. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Distelrath and wife, Sondra "Sweetie" Distelrath. Visitation is Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett. Service is Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10 am at Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Memorials to American Heart Association.
