Robert P. Sickmiller, 92 a beloved and hardworking husband and father died at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Garrett. He was born July 18, 1919 in Malinta, OH to Daniel and Prudence "Glee" (Stevens) Sickmiller and they preceded him in death. He married Eileen E. Engler on April 1, 1945 in Napoleon, OH and she died October 4, 2006. He served in the US Army during World War II. Robert was a wholesale driver for Allen Dairy for 17 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett, Garrett Historical Society and DeKalb Historical Society. Robert is survived by 3 daughters: Lyn Cameron of Idaho Falls, ID; Jean (Ron) Wyss of Ft. Wayne and Kristine Sickmiller of Garrett; 2 sons, Franklin (Ann) Sickmiller of Fort Wayne and Neil (Bret) Sickmiller of Jacksonville N.C., 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lester, Arthur and Ralph Sickmiller and 5 sisters, Opal Pittman, Iona Heater, Irene Vance, Margaret Miller and Mildred Franz. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. Pastor Jeffrey Horn will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett.
