Robert J. Sliger age 87 died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his son's home. Robert was born May 20, 1929 in Garrett, IN to Karl W. and Clara (Miller) Sliger and they preceded him in death. Robert married Jean E. Mavis on October 8, 1955 in Garrett, IN and she died February 26, 1998. Robert was a lifetime farmer, retiring in 1985. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Robert was an honorary fireman with the Corunna Volunteer Fire Department and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN Robert is survived by 2 sons: Robert G. Sliger, Corunna, IN; Keith W. Sliger, Corunna, In; daughter: Cynthia S. Prater, Ashley, IN; brother Kenneth (Reba) Sliger, Avilla, IN; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife: Jean E. Sliger; parents: Karl W. and Clara Sliger; brother: Karl B. Sliger. Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN with Fr.
