Robert Edison Winebrenner age 92 of Garrett, IN died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. Robert was born July 25, 1924 in Garrett, IN to Charles Edison and Stella M. (Hartman) Winebrenner and they preceded him in death. Robert married Mary June Yarde on November 11, 1978 in Auburn, IN and she died April 13, 1999. Robert was a postal clerk at the Garrett Post Office for 21 years prior to retirement. Robert was a WW II Army veteran, having served in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of the Garrett American Legion Post #178 for over 70 years. Robert is survived by his sister in-law: E. "Joyce" Winebrenner, Auburn, IN; niece: Donna Bowers, Auburn, IN; nephew: Dave Yarde, Garrett,IN; nephew: Dan (Jordan) Yarde, Garrett,IN; 3 great nephews; 1 great niece and 3 great great nieces. Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Edison and Stella M. Winebrenner; wife: Mary June Winebrenner; brother: Donald H. Winebrenner in 1998 and nephew: Gerald Winebrenner in 2007 - his wife Debra survives in Wolcottville,IN. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. William Haworth officiating.
