Roy J. "Rosie" Creager, age 81, of Garrett, died on Monday, April 12, 2010 at his home. He was born March 24, 1929 in Garrett, IN to Roy E. and Dell Marie (Topper) Creager and they preceded him in death. He married Carolyn S. Maggert on May 12, 1956 in Garrett. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked from 1960 - 1973 for the Garrett Police Department, a portion of that time as the chief of police. He worked 29 years for the B & O Railroad as a brakeman, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Garrett. He was a member of the Garrett American Legion, VFW and Eagles. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Creager, Garrett, IN; 2 daughters, Julie Creager, Garrett, IN and Janie Diederich, Auburn, IN. He is also survived by a son, Kyle E. Creager, Auburn, IN and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers - Wayne, William and Earl; and a sister - Madelaine Zumbaugh. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN Military graveside services by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are the GHS Girls Basketball or DeKalb County Humane Shelter.
