Sarah Jean Eldridge age 85 of Garrett, IN died at 5 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. She was born January 19, 1925 in Auburn, IN to Walter I. and Edna M. (May) Eldridge and they preceded her in death. She graduated from Manchester College in 1948 with a B.S. in Education. She worked in Pemberton, OH; Flint, IN; Modock, IN and Garrett -Keyser- Butler School System where she retired in 1986 after 33 years. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren and attended the Garrett United Methodist Church. She was a member of the DeKalb County Retired Teachers, Retired State Teachers, DAR and the NEA (National Education Association). She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter I. and Edna M. (May) Eldridge, a sister - Marjorie E. Eldridge, and sister and brother in-law, Lucile and Dale L. DePew. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home, with visitation 2 hours prior. Officiating will be Dr. Scott Shoaff of the Garrett United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Sedan Cemetery - Corunna, IN. Memorials are to the Donor's Choice.
