Scott David LaTurner, age 59 of Garrett, IN died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Parkview Hosiptal in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a former Fort Wayne resident before moving to Garrett 12 years ago. Scott was born September 29, 1949 in Fort Wayne, IN to Curt Ross and Mary Berniece (Laker) LaTurner and they preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS John F. Kennedy. He drove a delivery truck for C. Miller and Sons in Fort Wayne for 17 years and worked for the past year at Custer Grain in Garrett. Scott enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting. Surviving are 3 brothers and their wives, Dan and Peggy LaTurner of Auburn, IN; Sam and Janet LaTurner of Avilla, IN and Chuck and Lori LaTurner of Garrett, IN. 2 sisters, Melba and Bert Hauge of Auburn, IN and Angie Smith of Garrett, IN. He also had 11 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, IN. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Glen Francis of St. Andrew Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Auburn, IN and Pastor Dean Morris of the Living Waters Church in Garrett, IN. Burial will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, IN with military graveside services by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are to the Garrett American Legion Post #178 or to the donor's choice.
