Sharon Lou Steigmeyer age 87 of Garrett, In died Monday, November 23, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. Sharon was born July 20, 1928 in Avilla, IN to Christopher C. and Nina (Neal) Simon. She married William E. "Red" Steigmeyer on September 29, 1951 in Auburn, IN and he died September 2, 2002. Sharon grew up in Kendallville ad graduated from the Kendallville Public High School. She moved to Garrett, IN in 1951 following her graduation from the Methodist Hospital Nursing Program - Fort Wayne, IN. and her marriage to William E. "Red" Steigmeyer She worked as a registered nurse in DeKalb County at Sacred Heart Hospital - Garrett, IN, DeKalb Hospital - Auburn, IN and Garrett Hospital - Garrett, IN. Sharon is survived by her brother and sister in-law: Neal and Sharon Simon, Garrett, IN; a half-brother: David Simon and step sister: Bonnie Gillespie, both of Fort Wayne, IN.; daughter in-law: Sarah Steigmeyer, Auburn, IN; sister in-law: Patricia Frymier, Auburn, IN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are the spouse of a sister in-law: Richard Wilcoxson, Garrett, IN and the spouses of 2 brothers in-law: Anette Steigmeyer, Auburndale, CA and Theresa Steigmeyer, Erie, PA. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents: Christopher C. and Nina Simon, husband: William E. "Red" Steigmeyer, sons: Brent Steigmeyer and Glenn Steigmeyer and daughter: Clara M. Steigmeyer; 5 brothers in law: Edward, Jerome, Adrian, Ralph, and James Steigmeyer; 2 sisters in -law: Virginia Manon and Mary Wilcoxson. Memorial graveside services will take place in Lakeview Cemetery - Kendallville, IN at a later date.
