Shirley Ann Griffin age 90 of Garrett, IN died Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Miller's Merry Manor – Garrett, IN.
Shirley was born January 29, 1935 in Garrett, IN to Louis and Lisette (Peters) Koepke. She married Maynard W. Griffin on September 11, 1954 and he passed away on May 22, 2024.
A Native of Garrett, Indiana, Mrs. Griffin attended the Garrett schools, graduating from Garrett High School in 1952. A secretary and a homemaker by occupation, she was a resident of DeKalb County, living within 2 miles of Garrett most of her life.
Mrs. Griffin retired from Insurance Trustees Inc. in Garrett in 1999. She was a long-time member of the DeKalb County Extension Homemaker Chorus, and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church – Garrett, IN, where she served on the Stewardship Committee and was a financial secretary.
Shirley is survived by her: son and daughter in-law: Steven and Wanda Griffin, Anderson, SC; grandson: Eric (Kimberly) Leon, and their children: Aubrey, Ian and Avery Leon; Beaufort, NC; extended family members: Ronald and Lydia (Kimberly) Leon, Garrett, IN and their children: Aubrey, Ian and Avery Leon; Step grandchildren: Chasity and Ronald Isley; Meagan Ayala and Brandon Shiflett, Pensacola, FL; David Shiflett Jr., Pensacola, FL; Nathan Shiflett, Anderson, SC; Ginger Shiflett, Anderson, SC; 7 step-great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Lisette Koepke; husband: Maynard Griffin; daughter: Valerie Leon; step-granddaughter: April Graves; brothers: Ralph Koepke, Clarence Koepke, Robert Koepke; sister: Bernice Humbarger
Services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett, IN at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 with Rev. Keaton Christiansen officiating.
Visitation will take place from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery – Auburn, IN.
Memorials are to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett.
