Sterling Keith Robbins I. age 77 of Auburn, IN died Friday, July 22, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born July 19, 1939 in Spencerville, IN to Robert A. Brunson and Ilah Marie (McCrory) Brunson and they preceded him in death. Sterling worked as a heat treat operator at Auburn Gear for 30 years, retiring in 2001. Sterling was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1958-1968 He was a member of the First Baptist Church - Garrett, IN; Lifetime member of the VFW Post #1892, Local 825, All Veteran Service Support and the DeKalb Count Genealogy Society. Sterling is survived by his companion: Wilma Lee Davis, Auburn, IN; daughter: Kimberly Baumgarten Stockton, CA; sons: Sterling K. Robbins II, Garrett, IN; Derek Robbins, IL; Kevin Robbins, Fort Wayne, IN; sisters: Jacqueline Sue Baker, Garrett, IN; Cynthia Lee Warner, Auburn, IN; Crystal Kay Hollinger, Garrett, IN; Bobbie Jo Fretz; 5 brothers: Randy Brunson, Dan Brunson, Mark Brunson, Tracey Brunson and Tim Brunson and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Robert A. Brunson; mother: Ilah M. Wasson; wonderful father that adopted him: Howard E. Robbins; son: Brian Douglas Robbins and sister: Agatha Jo Brunson Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. David Mix officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery - Garrett, IN, with Military Graveside Honors by the U.S. Navy, Garrett American Legion and VFW.
