Obituary

Terry L. Gaar age 63 of Garrett, IN died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at DeKalb Memorial Hospital - Auburn, IN. He was born December 9, 1946 in Fort Wayne, IN to Lloyd H. and Cleo M. (Bowsman) Gaar and they preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Garrett High School Class of 1965. He also graduated from Concordia College with an Associates Degree. He worked at Fort Wayne National Bank - Fort Wayne, IN for 11 years and was a Senior Systems Engineer with Verizon Data Services for 25 years, retiring in 2004. After retirement he worked part-time for Gary Thrush Farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and a current Garrett City Councilman. He married Margaret "Peggy" Ley on June 22, 1968 in Garrett, IN and she survives in Garrett. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN and the Knights of Columbus Council 1790 - Garrett, IN and the Mother Theresa Council of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his wife, Peggy Gaar, Garrett, IN.; daughter, Julia and Ron Regazzi, Leo, IN and son, Travis and Christina Gaar, Garrett, IN. He is survived by his grandchildren, Victoria and Matthew Regazzi, Leo, IN and Connor Gaar, Garrett, IN. He is survived by his father in-law, Charles Ley, Garrett, IN; sister in-law, Connie Ley, Fort Wayne, IN and brother in-law, Joe Ley, Garrett, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents - Lloyd and Cleo Gaar; son - Jeffrey Gaar and mother in-law, Victoria Ley Visitation will be from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN Burial with follow at St. Mary's Cemetery - Avilla, IN Memorials are to Masses, St. Joseph Catholic School or the Education Fund for the Grandchildren.
