Victor J. Ley age 88 of Avilla, IN died Friday, December 29, 2017. Victor was born February 20, 1929 in Avilla, IN to William L. and Ethel (Aman) Ley and they preceded him in death. He married Ursula M. Vanderbosch on October 10, 1953 in Garrett, IN and she died September 20, 2013. He was a contractor and farmer all his life, retiring in 1991. He was an Army Korean War veteran. He took the Honor Flight in 2016.

Victor was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church – Avilla, IN, Avilla American Legion, Democratic Precinct Committeeman and former Noble County Commissioner. He was a longtime volunteer at Presence Sacred Heart Home – Avilla, IN.

Victor is survived by 5 daughters: Christine (Bruce) Emerick, Plymouth, IN; Denise ( Jerry) Fanger, Avilla, IN; Laura (Ken) Rudd, Westland, MI; Sharon ( Mike) Kacprowicz, Ft. Wayne, IN and Nancy ( Tom Manatine Jr. ) Reinhardt, Macomb, MI; 4 sons: Michael ( Sara) Ley, Auburn, IN; James Ley, Rome City, IN; Steven (Sharlene) Ley, Jefferson, GA; Patrick ( Cathy) Ley, Kendallville, IN; several grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents: William and Ethel Ley, wife: Ursula Ley and brothers: John Ley, Charles Ley and Don Ley; sister: Theresa Glasgow.

Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. with a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church – Avilla, IN with Fr. Daniel Chukwuleta officiating. Calling at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery – Avilla, IN with military honors by the United States Army and the Avilla American Legion.

Memorials to Presence Sacred Heart Home – St. Francis Unit or Honor Flight.
