Obituary

William “Bill” Willis, 80, of Spencerville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by family in his home in Spencerville. Bill was born on September 29, 1945, to Roy Reed Willis and Nellie Jane (Craft) Dean. Bill grew up in the hills of West Virginia, then served in the United States Army in Vietnam in 1967. He then returned home and fell head-over-heels in love with his wife, Beverly Grubs, and married her in April of 1969, Warsaw, Indiana.

Bill was a devoted husband and was just as crazy about his daughter and grandchildren and did his best to spoil them all. He was a hard worker and always up to something, which led to him owning a successful janitorial business which he ran for over 20 years. In his retirement, when he wasn’t traveling to see family, he could be found tending his roses, manicuring the lawn, or collecting his next piece of lawn equipment. Bill loved his family fiercely and spent his life dedicated to all his family both near and far.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Beverly; daughter Shavon (Adam) Hull, of Auburn, Indiana; brother David Dean; and sister Betty Gray; and four grandchildren.

Preceding Bill in death are his parents Roy Willis and Nellie Dean, brothers Thomas Willis, Robert Willis, and Lawson Willis, and sister Joyce Desnomie.

Per Bill’s request, there will be no memorial services held.

Care of the Willis family by Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, Indiana.
