William "Willie" R. Kock age 89 of Garrett, IN died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Parkview Hospital. He was born February 1, 1922 in Garrett, IN to Johnas and Amanda (Smelow) Kock and they preceded him in death. He married Dolores M. Soule on August 6, 1949 in Garrett and she survives. He worked in the assembly area at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a WW II Navy veteran. William was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church - Garrett, IN and the Garrett American Legion Post #178. William is survived by his wife: Dolores M. Kock, Garrett, IN; a son: Ron (Kathie) Kock, Auburn, IN and 4 daughters: Sharon (Tom) Shafer, West Lafayette, IN; Diane (Mike) Hanson, Indianapolis, IN; Carol Easterday, Ft. Wayne, IN and Susie (Hulen) Branscum, Auburn, IN. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents: Johnas and Amanda Kock; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeffrey Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN with military graveside honors by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church - Garrett, IN.
