William H. Smurr age 91 of Garrett, IN died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. He was born January 19, 1924 in Auburn, IN to Lester and Agnes E. (Hosack) Smurr. He married Lois J. Kock on February 9, 1957 in Garrett, IN and she died April 19, 2003. William was a press operator at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, IN for 26 years, retiring in 1987. He was a WW II Air Force veteran and member of the Garrett American Legion and Garrett Eagles. William is survived by 2 sons: Tom (Tara) Smurr, Garrett, IN and Mike (Tammy ) Smurr, Toledo, OH; 2 brothers: Jack Smurr and John Smurr, Garrett, IN; 3 granddaughters: Danyell (Jeremiah) Kemerer, Hicksville, OH; Kelsi Smurr and Maggi Smurr, Garrett, IN He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois J. Smurr; parents: Lester and Agnes Smurr; brother: Jim Smurr and sister: Betty Terrell Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN 46738. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home, with Brother Bud Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN with graveside military honors conducted by the United States Air Force and the Garrett American Legion.
