William "Bill" E. Strowmatt age 84 of Garrett, IN died at 11:07 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Parkview Hospital - Fort Wayne, IN. He was born December 24, 1926 in Burgettstown, PA to William S. and Florence (McClain) Strowmatt and they preceded him in death. He married Nancy Bonner on June 17, 1950 in Imperial, PA and she died October 6, 2000. Bill was a mechanic at North American Van lines and was a WW II Navy veteran, serving from 1944 - 1947. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garrett, the Garrett American Legion and Eagles. He is survived by 3 sons: Bill (Judi) Strowmatt, Apache Junction, AZ; Jerry (Kathy) Strowmatt, Avilla, IN and Tim (Susan) Strowmatt, Mishawaka, IN. He is also survived by a daughter: Karen (Jim) Perry, Strabane, PA.; brother David Strowmatt, PA.; 3 sisters: Doris McElhaney, PA; Deloris Farber, WV; Mary Jo Redman, WV; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy Strowmatt; parents: William and Florence Strowmatt, and a son: Garry Strowmatt. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN and from 10 - 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. David Mix officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery - Avilla, IN. Memorials are to Riley Children's Hospital.
