Eugene "Gene" M. Shirk

Eugene “Gene” M. Shirk age 83 died Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Lutheran Hospital – Ft. Wayne, IN. Gene was born April 3, 1940 in Garrett, IN to Glen and Ethel M. (Starner) Shirk and they preceded him in death.

Gene married Patricia Ann Walker on March 25, 1967 in Ft. Wayne, IN and she died November 20, 1991.He worked at Reike in Auburn as an assembler.

Gene was a Vietnam Army Veteran and member of the First Baptist Church – Garrett, IN

Gene is survived by his sons: Robert M. Shirk, Auburn, IN; Daniel S. (Dawn) Shirk, Huntertown, IN; Daughter: Kimberly Shirk, Auburn, IN; brother; Don (Nancy) Shirk, Phoenix, AZ;  granddaughter: Gabriella Shirk and granddaughter and great granddaughters: Cassandra Shirk  and Evelyn and Adalyn Shirk – all of Huntertown, IN

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Glen and Ethel Shirk, wife: Patricia Ann Shirk; brothers:  Carson Shirk , Steven Shirk, Joseph Shirk; sisters: Katherine Camp, Barbara Huyette,  Marilyn Yarde, Patricia Bornick and Carol Miller,

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the First Baptist Church – Garrett, IN with Rev. David Mix officiating with calling an hour prior to services at the church.

The Garrett American Legion and the United States Army with conduct Graveside military honors at Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN.
