Obituary

Russell Campbell age 77 died Friday, April 21, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center – Ft. Wayne, IN. Russell was born September 3, 1945 in Hardshell, KY to       and Mahala (Grigsby) Campbell.

He married Jama S. Payton on March 11, 1998 in Nashville, TN and he was a conductor for the CSX Railroad for 31 years, retiring in 2007. Russell was a Vietnam United States Army veteran.

Russell was a member of the Avilla American Legion Post#240, Kendallville VFW, NRA,DAV and the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization..

Russell is survived by his wife: Jama S. Campbell, Garrett, IN; 2 sons: Russell “Duane” (Diane) Campbell, Bettendorf, IA; Curtis Campbell. Avilla, IN; step son: John (Paula) Perry, Waterloo, IN; step daughter: Jen Lawhead, Garrett, IN; step daughter: Dawn Bair, Avilla, IN; brother: Clarence “Bear” Campbell, KY; sister: Melinda “Kutch” Edmonds, Chicago, IL; 3 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 6, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. at the Avilla American Legion Post#240

Memorials are to any veterans organization in Russell’s name.
